Premier League: Seiver Wins Final Heat, Koon Defeats Cates

Heat 6 play at the partypoker Premier League wrapped up late last night at the Playground Poker Club outside of Montreal with Scott Seiver and Brian Rast winning big and Jason Koon moving on in the first heads-up match…

SEIVER ADVANCES, RAST MAKES FIRST GROUP

Scott Seiver GPIScott Seiver (GPI#16) started the day with only 11 points. He would need to score a ton of points in order to advance to the second-chance round with a Top 4 finish a distant memory. Seiver would go on to win Heat 6 and indeed stave off elimination.

Seiver would defeat Brian Rast (GPI#364) heads-up but Rast was elated with his second place finish as it was enough to place him inside the Top 4, earning him direct entry into the final table. Rast entered Heat 5 play on Sunday with the worst record of all, but a first and second place finish in the final two heats allowed him to scoop away fourth place from Heat 2 winner Jason Koon (GPI#20).

Like Rast, Dan Colman, Jeff Gross and Sorel Mizzi all earn automatic entry to final table play.

HEADS-UP SURVIVAL

Jason Koon GPIThe next four players: Koon, Jonathan Duhamel, Seiver and Daniel Cates earn a second chance at a shot at the final table. The heads-up matches are as follows:

MATCH #1: Jason Koon vs. Daniel Cates
MATCH #2: Jonathan Duhamel vs. Scott Seiver

The first match took place right after the end of Heat 6 with Koon winning his best-of-three matchup against Cates. Koon receives one of the last two invitations to the final table. The Duhamel/Seiver is set for later today at the Playground Poker Club prior to the start of the final table. The winner will receive the last entry into final table play.

It’s unfortunately the end of the road for Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, defending champ Daniel Shak and Vanessa Selbst, who were all eliminated from competition on Monday.
