Ronaldo to Play EPT Prague, Gravesen’s €100 million Bankroll, Bilzerian Wins Big

Nadal vs. Ronaldo at EPT Prague

With EPT Prague gleaming on the horizon, the organisers have just announced more details of Rafa Nadal‘s charity tournament. Billing as the tennis star’s European debut, the event will kick off on December 12 and in addition to welcoming Rafa to the felt, a slew of sporting stars will join the action.

Of the players due to ante up and compete for a prizepool worth €100,000, friend of PokerStars, Ronaldo, will be one of the most popular. Having taken up poker after retiring from football, Ronaldo has since played in a number of tournaments across Latin America, including the Brazil Series of Poker.

Commenting on Ronaldo’s participation in the charity event, Nadal said:

Ronaldo has always been a hero of mine and I’m looking forward to taking him on at the poker table. The great thing about poker is that it’s a common ground for us to compete on, and there are many similarities between sport and poker strategy, so it will be good to see how he translates his game from the football field to the poker felt.”

The tournament is expected to be a highlight of the EPT Prague schedule which will see some of the world’s top players take part in a €5,300 Main Event from December 12 to December 18.

Footballer Turns Poker Pro

Former footballer and amateur poker player Thomas Gravesen has decided to move to Las Vegas and spend his time grinding at the felt according to a recent article on UK Eurosport.

Having played for some of the biggest football clubs in the Europe, including Real Madrid, Celtic and Everton, Gravesen retired from football in 2009, but he managed to continue earning money through a selection of keen investments.

Indeed, breaking with the tradition of retired sportsmen blowing all their money on fast cars and loose women, the Dane managed to use his business acumen to rake in a €100 million fortune.

Thanks to this fortune Gravesen has now been able to announce his second retirement and that he’ll be moving to Las Vegas to see out his days playing poker and competing alongside some of the world’s top pros at the WSOP.

Bilzerian’s Big Win

Dan Bilzerian might not be the best player in the world, but it seems his friendships with the likes of Andrew Robl and recent WSOP runner-up Jay Farber has paid off. Despite being a keen amateur at best, Dan recently sat down for a session of high stakes poker with a bankroll of $13 million.

Using the full force of his father’s fortune, Dan was able to play heads-up against an unknown opponent with the blinds set at $5,000/$10,000. The epic battle lasted for a number of hours and by the time Dan called it quits he’d managed to amass a jaw-dropping $10.8 million profit.

The impressive win obviously took its toll on Dan as he decided to fly to Puerto Vallarta for a private vacation with some of his entourage.
