Silverman Wins EPT High Roller, Thew Triumphs in Dublin and Raine Claims GUKPT Title
Silverman Turns Satellite into Gold
Steve O’Dwyer may have captured yesterday’s headlines with his impressive win over one of the toughest EPT final tables ever assembled, but the day’s action also produced another winner.
Having lined up against some of the richest players in the poker world, Steven Silverman was able to walk away from the €25,000 High Roller event with his largest tournament cash to date.
After qualifying for the tournament via a €3,000 satellite, Silverman was able to overcome a final table the included the likes of Igor Kurganov, Toby Lewis and Vanessa Selbst to scoop €775,400.
Despite the advertised top prize being over €1,000,000, the final three players, Silverman, Anthony Gregg and Fadar Kamar, agreed to split the remaining cash and take home €760,000 each.
That left €15,000 to play for and when the final hand went down a simple race determined the recipient of the extra cash and EPT trophy took place.
Indeed, after moving all-in with [As] [Js], Silverman hit two jacks on the [6h] [5d] [3h] [Jc] [Jh] board to better Gregg’s pocket deuces and claim his first EPT title.

Thew Beats a Few in Dublin
One of the UK’s most affable players, Julian Thew, continued to exert his dominance over the Sky Poker Tour this weekend after taking down his second title.
After sitting down with 127 grinders inside Dublin’s Sporting Emporium, Thew went against his nickname of “yoyo” and played a patient game during the early stages of the tournament.
Thanks to numerous double ups on the way to the finale, Thew was able to confound his opponents on the final table as he changed gears multiple times to boost his stack even further.
Being the most experienced player in the final stages, Thew was soon able to overcome Peter Stoneman heads-up to scoop his second SPT title and £6,600.
1st | Julian Thew | £6,600 |
2nd | Peter Stoneman | £4,570 |

Money Rains on Neil in Stockton
The GUKPT’s latest Main Event came to a conclusion over the weekend and standing victorious when the final chips had fallen was Neil Raine.
A total of 116 players made their way to Stockton to compete in the £550 Main Event, but only one player could walk away with the £17,690 top prize.
Although the final table contained a former WSOP bracelet winner in the shape of Lawrence Gosney, Raine was able to avoid any fatal confrontations on route to a heads-up battle with Dave Collins.
After battling back-and-forth, all the chips finally went into the middle of the table after Collins moved all-in with the board showing [7c] [Tc] [Kd] [2s]. Raine made the quick call with [Kc] [9c] and was well ahead of Collins’ [7d] [5d] when the cards were revealed.
By the time a blank fell on the river it was Raine who was able to rake in the final pot and lift his first GUKPT trophy.
1st | Neil Raine | £17,690 |
2nd | Dave Collins | £12,470 |
3rd | Stephen Sung | £7,830 |
