Students Prepare for UK Championship, EPT Vienna Gets Underway

Grosvenor’s 10th Student Championship

Grosvenor Poker will host its tenth annual student championship next month inside Coventry’s expansive G Casino. For the past decade the Grosvenor UK Student Poker Championship has been a firm favourite with academic grinders across the country and this year the festival will take place between April 8th and 13th.

On the menu this time around will be a £30 Main Event as well as a £100 High Roller, a £25 PLO tournament and a £50 6-max event.

Additionally the UKSPC will also feature a Ladies Event and a host of extracurricular activities such as beer pong tournaments, quizzes and a special University of the Series award.

Indeed, to add some extra spice to proceedings best performing university will be awarded with a special prize. Last year the title went to the University of Central Lancashire but they will certainly have their work cut-out this time around with more than 20 events already registered for the festival.

Each year the UKSPC seems to grow in popularity and this year the organisers are expecting it to be one of the largest events ever.

The 2014 Grosvenor UKSPC is open to any UK university student who is currently studying. Additionally, graduates from the last three years are also allowed to take part in the events.

EPT Vienna Begins

The EPT bandwagon rolled into Vienna last night ahead of the opening session of this year’s ten-day festival. Always one of the more popular stops on the tour, EPT Vienna will take place in the plush surroundings of Hofburg Palace and feature a slew of international stars.

Last season the Main Event welcomed 587 players and when the betting had finished it was German student Michael Eiler who banked the €700,000 top prize and his first major trophy.

This year many more players are expected to take to the felt in the €5,300 Main Event thanks to the EPT’s continued relationship with the popular EUREKA Poker Tour.

Indeed, alongside EPT Vienna’s marquee tournaments, the EUREKA Poker Tour will be hosting a €1,100 Main Event as well as €2,200 High Roller.
