Trickett Joins Everest, GUKPT Manchester Result

Trickett’s New Role

UK superstar Sam Trickett has just signed up to represent Everest Poker. Joining the online outfit as “brand ambassador“, Sam will be working with the site to ensure it “remains one of the strongest in the market“.

Beyond this, Sam will be taking part in a number of Everest Poker live events, as well as other international events including the World Series of Poker.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the new sponsorship deal is that players can win a chance to learn directly from the man himself via a series of live coaching session.

In addition to this, Everest Poker players will be able to win 10% of any money Sam makes at this year’s WSOP.

Commenting on his new position, Sam said:

I’m very excited to be joining Everest Poker and I’m looking forward to interacting with our players online and at Everest Poker Live events, where I’ll be playing and coaching.  Everest is a great poker brand and I will be doing everything I can to make it one of the most recognised in the world.”

Jones’ Joy in Manchester

Despite a slow start, this year’s GUKPT Manchester finally got into its stride over the weekend and while the organisers had to fork out for an £8,000 overlay, the deficit was certainly a lot better than many predicted.

Indeed, with a £200,000 guarantee set, it looked as though the overlay would reach £100,000 on Friday but by the time the registration desk closed a respectable 192 players had anted up the necessary £1,000 entry fee.

As the tournament progressed and a slew of familiar faces hit the rail, it looked as though Simon Deadman would claim yet another European title.

However, as Sunday’s final table developed and the likes of Karl Mahrenholz and Richard Kellett hit the rail, it was Rhys Jones who emerged as the frontrunner.

After securing a three-way deal worth £39,000 with Deadman and Steve Warburton, Jones began to take control after the latter exited in third.

Indeed, despite an onslaught from Deadman, Jones managed to come from behind and edge ahead with a sustained bout of pressure.

Eventually Jones got Deadman in with K-2 and after the board gave Jones and his J-9 a straight the final pot was pushed his way before he was handed the latest GUKPT winner’s trophy and a pile of cash worth £42,000.
