WPT Mazagan Latest; UK Grinders Prepare for Busy Weekend

Morocco Madness Leaves Beauvois Top

Day 2 at WPT Mazagan was a swift affair as 81 players became just 25 within six levels. After starting the day with a host of famous faces, including Steve O’Dwyer, Roger Hairabedian and high stakes legend, Daniel Cates, the rail was soon littered with fallen talent.

Indeed, while O’Dwyer enjoyed a spell at the top of the chip counts, he soon made way for Clement Beauvois who ended the day with the largest stack. With 416,000 he’s in a supremely comfortable position as his closest rival, Jeremy Nock, has 298,000.

Also still in the hunt for the $168,207 first place prize is some of Europe’s finest players such as Gaelle Baumann, Fabrice Soulier, Davidi Kitai and Guillaume Darcourt.

Today’s session will see the final three tables whittled down to just one, before the session breaks and six players remain.

GUKPT Finishing with a Bang

The GUKPT’s Grand Final kicked off earlier today with another bumper field looking to boost their GPI score and bankroll ahead of the Christmas break.

Last year saw 195 descend on London’s Victoria Casino, generating a prizepool well over £500,000. Indeed, when the chips had fallen it was Jake Cody and Fabian Quoss who took home the largest scores.

A deal at the start of their heads-up battle meant they each guaranteed themselves more than £110,000, with Quoss banking £119,996 after defeating his rival.

This year the £2,500+£125 is expected to attract a number of recognisable faces and when the curtain comes down on Sunday the winner should be taking home more than £100,000.

Stars Head to Genting Finale

The Christmas rush might be gripping the general public at the moment but in the poker world it seems the tournament rush is top of the agenda.

With WPT Mazagan and GUKPT Grand Final in full swing, the Genting Poker Series is also capping off a successful season.

Hot on the heels of their record-breaking Sheffield event, the organisers are gearing up for the start of their final festival of the year inside London’s Fox Poker Club.

While the £1,500+£100 main event doesn’t start until December 6th, a packed side event schedule begins tomorrow.

With previous GPS champions likely to be in attendance, including James Akenhead, Paul Jackson, Karl Mahrenholz and Charles Chattha, the action promises to be enthralling.

Indeed, in addition to the main event, a £5,000+£200 high roller tournament should be one of the festival’s highlights.
