Schneider Tames H.O.R.S.E. Event

Tom Schneider has become the first player at this year’s WSOP to scoop two bracelets, taking his overall tally to four in the process.

After lining up against Viatcheslav Ortynskiy, Greg Mueller and Benjamin Scholl for the final session of the $5,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, Schneider used him imposing chip lead to bully his opponents into submission.

Indeed, with 64% of the chips in play he soon dispatched with Ortynskiy and Mueller before making light work of Scholl in the final heads-up battle.  Having switched the game to No Limit Hold’em, Schneider and Scholl battled back-and-forth before finally committing their chips on an [Ah] [Jc] [6s] [Kc] board.

When the pot was set and the cards were revealed it Schneider’s [Ac] [Th] that held the lead over Scholl’s [Kd] [Qs]. With just one card to come Scholl needed some help, but as the [Jh] fell on the river it was Schneider’s time to shine as he bagged his second title of the Series.

While Schneider was reining in his second H.O.R.S.E. title of the summer, Chris Dombrowski was carving out his own little piece of history in Event #30. Having battled his way past more than 2,000 players in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event, he was able to clinch his first bracelet after beating Mathew Moore heads-up.

After more than two hours of battling, Dombrowski was finally able to scoop the top prize when his [Ah] [7s] was enough to beat Moore’s [Kh] [6d] on a [Qd] [2d] [Ac] [5s] [4d] board.

UKIPT Galway’s Poker Extravaganza

The tan lines from UKIPT’s recent jaunt to Marbella might still be visible but that hasn’t stopped the tour’s organisers from turning their attentions to the next stop in Galway, Ireland.

Kicking off on July 27 and running through until August 12, UKIPT Galway will take place in a specially constructed poker village and host an impressive 60 tournaments, including a €1,100 Main Event.

Set to be the largest poker festival Europe has ever seen, the €1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event will be the just one of the events that will pull in the punters.

Indeed, the roster is comprised of a number of other interesting events, including the UK vs. Ireland Heads-Up Championship, a Pot Limit Omaha Championship and an Open Face Chinese event.

EPT Renews Slyde Contract

Next season’s EPT will feature a familiar face in the form of last year’s commercial partner, Slyde watches. Having recently renewed their contract, the two companies will work together to give each winner on next season’s circuit something to cherish.

Indeed, much in the same way they did last season, the luxury watch producer will hand out exclusive “Black and Steel” watches to each Main Event winner.

On top of this, the winner of next season’s EPT Grand Final will receive a “Black and Rose Gold” timepiece valued at €9,000.

Winners of the EPT’s high roller tournaments will also benefit from the partnership thanks to Slyde offering up seven limited edition watches, including €15,600 timepiece for the PCA’s Super Holler Roller champion.

Commenting on the continued association with Slyde, EPT President Edgar Stuchly said:

These watches truly are works of art and we are very pleased to be offering our winners these customised timepieces as part of their prize.”
