WSOPE 2013’s Touch of Femininity, Parkinson Binks UKIPT Event

WSOPE Adds Another Event

In a move that signals the continued growth of the WSOPE, the organisers announced last night that for the first time in the event’s history there will be a ladies event on offer.

Having originally planned to host seven bracelet events from October 12 until October 25, the organisers have now decided to start proceedings slightly earlier and incorporate a €1,100 women only tournament.

The inclusion of the tournament means there will now be a total of eight events which is more than in both 2012 and 2011.

Commenting on the decision to introduce a new event the WSOP’s Executive Director, Ty Stewart, said:

We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE. We need to do more to promote ladies involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

This year’s WSOPE will take place inside France’s Casino Barriere between October 11 and October 25 and feature a host of events, including a €10,450 Main Event and €25,600 High Roller.

UKIPT Galway Continues to Entertain

UKIPT Galway continued to provide enough poker, Guinness and general joviality to keep the masses entertained yesterday; including Padraig Parkinson.

The Irish legend has been a firm fixture on the live poker circuit for more years than he’d care to remember and last night he proved that he’s not lost any of his fighting spirit.

After lining up for an intimate session of PLO action against 16 other competitors, Parkinson eventually walked away with a handy win and enough money to cover his beer tab for the next few days.

Beyond Padraig’s antics in the nightly PLO event, a host of other winners were crowned in the last 24 hours, including: Event #19 Peter Finneaty – €1,300, Event # 20 Brian Kearney – €960, Event #21 Bobby Carpenter – €638, Event #23 Juha Huttunen – €1,598 and Event #24 Gareth McKee – €880.
