GPI Tournament Report: WPT Montreal, HPT Indiana, WSOPC AC, BSOP Millions + More

We take you to Montreal, Indiana, Atlantic City, Sao Paulo, Italy, Minnesota, Brussels and Riga in this week’s GPI Tournament Report:

WPT MONTREAL

Ludovic Lacay GPIAmerican pilot Derrick Rosenbarger (GPI#19395) defeated well-known pro Mukul Pahuja (GPI#310) in a see-saw battle for the title.

WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open runner-up Lily Kiletto (GPI#1662) was also at the final table while WPT Canadian Spring Championship Champ Amir Babakhani, Ludovic Lacay, Griffin Benger, David Paredes, Patrick Eskandar, Jonathan Little and Yann Dion were all eliminated near the final table bubble.

Dutch veteran Govert Metaal (GPI#153) collecting over 180K in the High Roller event, defeating Martin Jacobsen (GPI#86) heads-up.

HEARTLAND INDIANA

Aaron Massey GPIA very close call for US circuit grinder and GPI300 standout Aaron Massey (GPI#140). Heading into final table play at the last Heartland Poker Tour event of 2013 in Gary, Indiana, Massey was certainly the biggest name at the table. Massey would fight his way to heads-up play but would finally succumb to veteran poker player Edward Ochana (GPI#1842) during final two play.

The final table also included former HPT Daytona Beach winner Nicholas Schwarmann (GPI#651) who finished in fourth position after playing the third HPT final table of his career. Schwarmann finished second to Justin Oliver in the 2,500 4-Handed NLH event at the WSOP this summer.

WSOP CIRCUIT ATLANTIC CITY

Chris Tryba GPIJoseph Lapinta (GPI#4532) earns the first tournament victory of his career on the live circuit with his win in the final WSOP Circuit event of 2013. Lapinta would defeat former WPT Regional Series Pennsylvania winner Joseph Wertz (GPI#1387) heads-up for the ring at WSOPC Atlantic City.

Other notables who cashed in AC included former WSOP bracelet winners Chris Tryba (pictured, right), Loni Harwood and Jeffrey Papola as well as former PCA Champ John Dibella.

BSOP MILLIONS

BSOP logoMurilo Ruiz (GPI#33897) has won the biggest tournament ever held in Brazil as the Brazilian Series of Poker Millions took place in Sao Paulo.

Ruiz outlasted the monster 2,400-player field to collect the first prize.

IPT SAINT VINCENT

IPT LogoDomenico Drammis (GPI#1875) won IPT Saint Vincent last week, surviving the 900+ player field. This was Drammis’ second final table appearance on the Italian Poker Tour this year, picking up his third cash on the IPT.

Fellow Italians Eros Nastasi (GPI#1837) and Ivan Gabrieli (GPI#2087) also cashed in the event.

MSPT SHAKOPEE

MSPT LogoNas Alkhatib won the Mid-States Poker Tour Shakopee event defeating Shane Nelson (GPI#9761) heads-up.

A 10th place finish for Patrick Steele (GPI#915) was enough for him to pickup Player of the Year honours on the Mid-States Poker Tour. Steele earned five cashes on the MSPT this year including three Final Four finishes. Steele also won on the Heartland Poker Tour in 2013.

WPT NATIONAL BRUSSELS

WPT National BrusselsNicolas Van de Pitte, who qualified for WPT National Brussels by winning a €65 satellite, turned that satellite into a € 58,000 profit with the big win in Brussels over the weekend.

A total of 440 players entered the Fall Series Main Event.

UNIBET OPEN RIGA

Jens Hansen GPIFlorens Feenstra (GPI#255) is certainly looking to end 2013 located inside the GPI300. Feenstra, who was featured in our look at the GPI National Netherlands race last week, won Unibet Open Riga over the weekend, taking home 52,000 Latvian Lats.

Former EPT Campione side event winner Jens Hansen (GPI#5550, pictured) earned, surprisingly, his very first cash of  the 2013 season finishing third in Riga. Meanwhile, former WPT Mazagan runner-up, Frederic Brunet (GPI#3802) was amongst the other players to cash in the event.
