Samuel “Sam” Chartier is Canadian professional poker player who cashed in his first live-event in 2007. In the first 5 years, Sam cashed 17 times, made 11 final tables, won a pair of events, and earned over $1 million. During that time he was also a successful online poker player, earning close to $4 million.
Born in 1986 in Montreal, Canada, Sam started playing poker in 2003 and turned pro in 2005. He started by playing online at several different poker rooms where he is usually known as “aaajack.” While playing online, Samuel won over $1 million on PokerStars, with his biggest cashes being $48,308 for winning The Bigger event, winning a $320 NLHE for $28,497 in 2011, and earning $32,890 in the 2009 WCOOP NLHE High Roller event.
Sam’s first live cash was for $826 in January of 2007 when he came in 43rd in the $500 NLHE Borgata Winter Open in Atlantic City. His next cash was in 2008, when he cashed twice at the EPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), finishing 80th for $16,000 in the $7,800 Main Event, and taking 11th in the $1,000 NLHE for $1,825. To finish the year, he came in 7th for €178,000 in the €8,000 EPT Barcelona Open, cashed at the Marrakech Poker Open, and made the money at the British Columbia Poker Championships in Richmond.
In 2009, Samuel cashed 3 times, winning the $5,000 NLHE Championship WSOP Circuit Event at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City where he collected $322,944. His other cashes were at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, and the WPT Venice. In 2010, Sam made the money at the 2010 EPT Berlin, before taking home €13,640 when he came in 5th in the €1,000 NLHE EPT Barcelona event.
In January 2011, Sam was back at the PCA where he won the $5,000 NLHE 6-Max to pocket $99,330, and came in 4th in the $5,000 NAPT Bounty Shootout for $10,000. In April, he cashed twice at the EPT Berlin, cashing for €7,500 in the €5,000 NLHE Main Event, and finishing 6th in the €10,000 NLHE 8-Max for €24,000.
Continuing his EPT run, Sam made the final table at the EPT San Remo in May where he finished 3rd in the €10,000 NLHE for €111,400. The same month, he also cashed at the EPT Grand Final Madrid in the €10,000 NLHE Main Event for €15,000. To end the year, Sam cashed twice at WSOP Europe in Cannes, where he finished 25th for €5,789 in the €2,500 NLHE 6-Max, and took 8th in the €5,000 PLO to earn €26,610.
Sam started 2012 at the PCA where he cashed for $37,500 in the EPT Main Event. His next pair of cashes were final table finishes at the EPT Deauville, where he finished 6th for € 23,400 in the €1,500 NLHE, and took 4th place in the €10,000 NLHE Main Event to earn €65,600.
