Allen Tops GUKPT Season Finale, UKIPT Nottingham

Allen Clinches GUKPT Grand Final Crown

Sam Grafton might have command the attention of the rail at the start yesterday’s GUKPT finale, but as the action developed it was Kevin Allen who slowly manoeuvred himself into pole position.  Indeed, by the time Grafton’s  chips (and the title he’d claimed last year) had slipped away, Allen was able to chase down the chip lead of Richard Kellett after using the elimination Will Kassoufas a springboard.

First to fall during the final session was Pratik Ghatge who suffered after his As Ks lost the remainder of his stack in an all-in coup Thomas Bichon’s Kd Kh. With eight players left it was Allen’s turn to wield his elimination sickle after an all-in with Kh Th received from some help from the dealer after Kassouf called with Qh 9h. Indeed, with the board showing Qc 2h Ah, Allen need some help but after the 8h fell on the river he was able to collect the remainder of Kassouf’s chips. .

With the elimination floodgates open it was time for Thomas Bichon, Richard Kellett, Scott Margerson and Ben Jackson to walk through them before Allen took control of a three-way conclusion.

Despite a plethora of double ups from is opponents, Allen was able to oust Matt Davenport before giving Rudolph Fourie his marching orders. A brief tussle ensued but after pressuring his opponent into a desperate move, Allen was able to cling onto his lead when all the money went in on a 5d 7s 9s board.

At this point Fourie’s Js 8s had a number of outs; however as the turn and river failed to improve his hand, it was Allen’s Kd Qs that clinched the pot, 2013 GUKPT Grand Final title and £158,700.
