EPT Announces Million Euro Cash Game, UKSPC Gets Underway

EPT Grand Final to Host Mega Cash Game

This year’s EPT Grand Final is set to be bigger and better than ever before thanks to the inclusion of another high stakes game featuring some of the best players in the world.

Having introduced an official nosebleed table at the Monte Carlo festival last season, the EPT is once again planning to spread a Million Euro Cash Game when the action kicks off on April 23.

Replicating the action that went down in 2013, the game will run daily and the minimum buy-in for anyone wanting to join will be set at €250,000. Additionally, there will be no cap on the amount of money players can sit down with which means we could see some wealthy amateurs cause a stir with stacks in excess of €1 million.

The plan is to start that game with stakes of €500/€1,000, but as with all games of this nature those limits can be increased or tinkered with through a player vote.

Already a slew of superstar payers are planning to play, including Isaac Haxton, Paul Newey and Daniel Alaei, and players will be able to watch some of the action via a live stream.

Although PokerStars and the EPT aren’t making provisions to show all of the action, they are planning to run a live stream with commentary on April 24 between 10pm and 2am.

The 2014 EPT Grand Final will take place inside Casino Monte Carlo from April 23rd until May 2nd and alongside the marquee event a selection of side events and cash games will be taking place.

Students Head to Coventry for the Annual Poker Championships

The GUKPT’s annual student championships is set to get underway today and opening the festival in style will be a £110 High Roller Event.

Designed to find the best student players in the country, the UKSPC will take place inside Coventry’s Ricoh Arena and feature players from more than 20 UK universities.

Last year the University of Central Lancashire won the best overall poker society but this time around they’ll have their work cut out as the UKSPC £35 Main Event is expected to attract more than 400 runners.

Indeed, 200 players have already registered online and with another day until the action gets underway that number will certainly increase dramatically.

Also on the schedule for the GUKPT’s 2014 UKSPC will be a host of cash games as well as a PLO event and a deepstack tournament.

Being a festival for students the action wouldn’t be complete without some extracurricular activities and this year the organisers have put together a bustling schedule of events, including quizzes, beer pong tournaments, comedy guests and a bad beat competition.

Check out the GPI’s daily news updates later in the week for a round-up of all the action from the 2014 UKSPC.
