EPT Vienna in Full Swing, PKR Live Ready to Mix Things Up

Ukrainian Leads the way in Vienna

Following on from the success of this year’s Eureka Poker Tour Main Event in Vienna in which Zoltan Gal took down the top prize of €208,655, EPT Vienna’s €5,300 marquee tournament got underway late last week and welcomed 341 players on Day 1A.

The bumper opening flight saw a number of pros take to the felt in search of EPT glory but by the close of play just 182 hopefuls were left trailing Oleksii Khoroshenin. The Ukrainian grinder managed to amass an insurmountable chip lead by the close of play to lead the likes of Dominik Nitsche, Vladimir Geshkenbein and PokerStars pro Marcel Luske.

Today’s session has seen a slew of professional grinders take to the felt inside Hofburg Palace and heading the chip counts at the time of writing was Canadian Jonathan Roy. With players still queuing at the registration desk the final number of entrants is yet to be confirmed but currently riding high and chasing the stack of Roy is a number of recognisable faces, including Johnny Lodden, Mike McDonald, Anton Wigg and Ole Schemion.

PKR Live to Debut Mixed Match Main Event

PKR’s popular series of live events will continue this week with its first ever Mixed Max tournament. Comprised of an opening session that will see players compete in a NLHE format on nine-handed tables, the $500 Main Event will then switch to a six-handed structure on Day 2 before the final 16 players compete in a series of heads-up matches on Day 3.

Seeding players in the final 16 based on the amount of chips they’ve accumulate up to that point, the tournament will mirror the structure first piloted by the WSOP back in 2011.

In addition to the Main Event, the latest PKR Live festival will feature a range of side events, including a £35 turbo tournament as well as a £110 deep stack event.

Each event will take place inside the plush surroundings of Aspers Casino, London, and play in the Main Event will be capped at 243 players, which means you’ll need to register early if you intend to play.
