Geilich Wins UKIPT Marbella, Lind Becomes WSOP’s Senior Figure

Scotland’s German Son wins in Marbella

After joining with the Estrellas Poker Tour and breaking through their 700 player cap, the opening event of this season’s UKIPT finally came to a conclusion last night in Marbella.

In total 763 players contested the €1,100 event, but when the final pot was raked in and the trophy lifted it was Ludovic Geilich who stood victorious.

The German native who resides in Scotland managed to come through yesterday’s finale in impressive fashion to beat Spain’s Pablo Rojas heads-up.

After taking Fernando Curto’s chips with pocket aces early in the final session, Geilich was able to stay on top during a three-handed negotiation and then scoop the title.

Having locked up €116,000, Geilich was able to watch as Rojas eliminated Kamil Hrabia before banking his first major tournament win with pocket nines

After moving all-in pre-flop, Geilich avoided any outdraws from Rojas’s [Qs] [Jc] as the board ran out [Kc] [Td] [Tc] [3s] [8h]. With that the final pot (and extra €14,000) was pushed his way and, as the cheers of Geilich’s friends reverberated around Casino Marbella, the first UKIPT of a new season was brought to a close.

€1,100 UKIPT Marbella Main Event Final Result:

1st Ludovic Geilich €130,000*

Lind’s Bucket List Win

Kenneth Lind proved that age is no barrier to success earlier today after he bested a mammoth WSOP field in the $1,000 Seniors event.

Having lined up alongside more than 4,400 over 50s, Lind demonstrated the staying power and concentration of a player half his age in order to overcome Dana Ott heads-up.

The seniors event has grown significantly in recent years and in the last 24 hours Lind managed to bank the biggest win of his career after his [Js] [9h] made a straight on a [7c] [8c] [Td] [7h] [Kc] flop to beat Ott’s [Jd] [7s].

After raking in the last pot and his first WSOP bracelet, an elated Lind commented: “Playing this event was one of the things on my bucket list. Now I’ve won the money I’m going to pay off both our homes.”
