Ola vs. the Politician, Prague Preparing for the EPT

Heads-Up for Poker Freedom

Earlier this year Ola ‘Odd_Oddsen’ Amundsgard wanted to prove that poker is a game of skill so to make his point he decided to challenge a group of Norwegian politicians to a $170,000 heads-up freeroll.

Offering them 10,000 hands to try and beat him, Amundsgard somewhat surprisingly found a willing participant in the form of Erlend Wiborg. The Norwegian cabinet minister practically jumped at the chance to take on one of the world’s best online players and, following a round of negotiations, the match will now take place on Saturday December 8 inside Oslo’s Felix Conference Centre.

Officially going down on PokerStars, the virtual match will also be open to live spectators who want to see Ola prove that poker is much more than a game of luck. Indeed, for those interested in watching the politically charged event a special lunch with some of Norway’s top players, including Andreas Torbergsen, will be taking place before the contest.

Stars Ready for EPT Prague

The EPT bandwagon rolls into the Czech Republic later this week for a round of pre-Christmas festivities in Prague. Known as one of the liveliest destinations on the European calendar, a number of pros have already made the trip the Czech Capital ahead of the festival.

Running from December 8 until December 18, the action-packed event will feature a slew of cash games and side events with buy-ins ranging from €100 to €1,500. For many, however, the €5,300 Main Event will be the major focus alongside the €10,300 High Roller.

Indeed, in addition to the likes of Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree and Jake Cody taking part in the Main Event on December 12, tennis star Rafa Nadal will also be joining the action. As well as hosting his own charity tournament, Rafa is expected to ante-up alongside the pros in search of his first major poker title.
