WSOP 2013’s Latest Winners, PartyPoker’s Road to Old Trafford
Teichert and Ashton Bag Bracelets
The result of Vincent Maglio and Nikolaus Teichert delayed heads-up match was finally announced today as Event #56 came to a conclusion.
Having made their way past more than 2,000 players in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event, Maglio and Teichert were told to stop playing after the tenth level of yesterday’s came to an end.
With Teichert returning to the felt today with a healthy chip lead it didn’t take him long to close out the match. Indeed, it took just 26 hands for the German grinder to edge out his opponent and claim his first WSOP bracelet.
At the start of the match it was Teichert who drew first blood before the pivotal hands took place. After watching Maglio raise pre-flop from the button, Teichert moved all-in with [Ah] [2h] and was quickly called by Maglio holding [Ac] [Tc].
Despite having a pre-flop disadvantage, Teichert was able to successfully scoop the pot and $730,756 top prize after the board rolled out: [Ks] [Ad] [3h] [9d] [2c].
As Teichert was claiming Germany’s second bracelet of the Series, the final few were racing towards a conclusion in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
Today’s final table saw the likes of David Benyamine, Jonathan Duhamel and George Danzer all sit down for a shot at one of the WSOP’s most prestigious bracelets; however, when the final chips had fallen, it was the UK’s Matthew Ashton who stood victorious.
Despite being one of the lesser known live players at the table, the Englishman put on a dazzling display in the final throes of the event to eliminate John Hennigan and Don Nguyen and claim the $1,774,089 top prize.

Manchester United Stars Set for Poker Event
Three legends from years gone by at Manchester United will be part of PartyPoker’s forthcoming “Road to Old Trafford” event.
The low stakes event will take place inside Old Trafford and feature a $365 buy-in and so far Dwight Yorke, Bobby Robson and Norman Whiteside are all confirmed to play.
The unique event will offer players the chance to compete against fellow grinders and former sports stars, as well as take a tour around Manchester United’s famous stadium between August 9 and 10.
Commenting on his chances of success, Robson said:
“I haven’t played poker for a long time so it will be interesting to see how I fare against the professionals. I have been told that you need to keep your cool and not give too much away, which is also something I was taught when playing football and I am hoping that will help me out on the day!”
Satellites for the event are currently running on PartyPoker and players can buy-in directly for £250 (£20 goes to charity). For more information, click here.
