Price Tops UKIPT Nottingham Day 1B, EPT San Remo Alteration
Pros Fall as Qualifier Tops UKIPT Day 1B
Day 1B of the UKIPT’s inaugural 6-max Main Event welcomed 132 players yesterday but as the session evolved and players made a break for the front that total was reduced to just 54 hopefuls. Anteing up £1,100 and sitting down for a shot at the £500,000 prizepool was a slew of pros, including JP Kelly, Vicky Coren and Matt Perrins, but as things progressed few of them would make the cut. Indeed, of the aforementioned trio, only Perrins would swerve elimination and earn himself a place in Day 2.
While stars were falling like a solar blackout, plucky online qualifier David Price was living the dream and raking in a chip leading haul worth 156,600 chips. A flurry of pots towards the end of the session were enough to clinch Price the Day 1B lead ahead of some stiff competition, including Jack Ellwood (114,200), Jason Wheeler (68,300) and Ludovic Geilich (60,300).
Today’s session got underway earlier and already spotted in the field is some of the UK’s toughest young grinders, including Chris Brammer, Jake Cody, and David Vamplew. So far the number of entrants has topped 174, however, with registration open until late today that figure is expected to increase.

EPT San Remo Pushed Back
Next year’s EPT San Remo festival will take place one week later in order to give international travellers are smoother route to the season finale in Monte Carlo.
Because San Remo is 30 miles from Monaco and traditionally takes place one week before the season finale, it’s always a well attended event. However, the week-long gap in-between the conclusion of San Remo and the start of Monte Carlo has often inconvenienced a number of travelling pros.
To help remedy this, the organisers have decided to alter EPT San Remo’s start date so that it will run from April 10 to April 20 and run seamlessly into the Grand Final.
After making the announcement that the original April 6 to April 16 slot had been changed, a number of pros voiced their approval, with Mike McDonald tweeting that it “will increase field sizes substantially“.
