BIO

Andrea Dato is an Italian professional poker player who made his first live-event cash in 2006.

In the first 6 years, Andrea cashed 17 times, made 9 final tables, cashed twice at the WSOP, won a pair of events, and earned over $435,000.

Born in 1979 in Italy, Andrea attended college where he graduated with honors in engineering. While working as an engineer, in 2005, he started playing poker, focusing on cash games. A year later, he made his first live-event cash at the 2006 Texas Hold\\\’em Italian Championships when he finished 8th in the €300 NLHE event to earn €1,670.

Andrea didn’t cash again until 2008, when he finished 9th in the €500 NLHE at the Royal Poker Tour Red Sea, Sharm el Sheikh to earn €1,000. His next cashes were in 2009, when he made the money at the Tana Delle Tigri in Nova Gorica, and at the Poker Grand Prix in Saint Vincent.

For the 5th live-event cash of his career, Andrea started 2010 by winning the €500 PLO at the Poker Grand Prix Saint-Vincent to earn €7,535. At the same event, he also finished 8th in the €1,000 NLHE for €3,640. After making the money in the Main Event at the Italian Poker Tour (IPT) San Remo V, Andrea was at the Red Sea Poker Cup, where he won the €550 NLHE event to earn €20,000. To finish the year, he cashed at the IPT San Marino, and the IPT San Remo 2.

In 2011, Andrea made the money 6 times, starting with a cash at the IPT Nova Gorica. At the WSOP, he cashed twice, finishing 3rd for $138,044 in the $1,500 NLHE Triple Chance, and taking 47th place in the $1,500 NLHE to earn $10,498.  To end the year, Andrea cashed for €10,000 in the Main Event at the EPT San Remo, finished 5th for SFr46,100 in the SFr2,000 NLHE Main Event at the IPT Campione. In December, he made the first of his back-to-back WPT final table appearances when he finished 4th in the €3,000 NLHE Main Event at the WPT Venice to earn €43,170.

In January 2012, Andrea was at home in Italy to make his 2nd WPT final table in a row, and first cash of the year. In Venice for the WPT Venice Grand Prix, he finished 3rd in the €4,500 NLHE Main Event to earn €72,275.

Making his home Rotue, Italy, Andrea has left the world of engineering for poker. In just a few years, he has become known as one of Italy’s toughest and most aggressive poker pros.
